Here are some examples of training and workshops I currently offer.
Agile at Scale, Inspired by Spotify (1-2 days). Learn and be inspired by how Spotify does Agile at scale with squads, chapters, tribes, guilds and more, as popularized in the 2012 white paper and the Spotify Engineering Culture videos. Understand the processes and decisions behind Spotify’s organizational design as well as the lessons learned and the changes made the last five years. I was part of the small group of people who worked together with the Spotify CTO to develop this organizational design.
Crucial Conversations (1-2 days). Clear the way to a collaborative high-trust culture while maintaining psychological safety by giving people skills and training for radical candor and tough conversations. I’m a Certified Crucial Conversations Trainer.
The Leadership Circle (1-2 days). Accelerate leadership effectiveness by helping your leaders gain deeper insight into their behavior and what is driving it using The Leadership Circle 360° Profiles. (You will need 2-4 weeks to identify survey respondents and to allow them time to fill out the 360° surveys.)
Extreme Leadership Training (1 day). A powerful and transformational workshop that explores the key tenets of the Extreme Leadership Framework—LEAP: Cultivating Love, Generating Energy, Inspiring Audacity, and Providing Proof—and guides you in applying them to your personal and professional leadership challenges. I’m certified to teach this course by Steve Farber and The Extreme Leadership Institute.
Kanban In Action (1-2 days). Learn how to improve just about any process by applying the simple and powerful principles of kanban: visualize work, limit the work in process, and help the work to flow. Based on my very popular book Kanban In Action (Manning, 2014), available also in Chinese and Japanese editions.
Improvement Workshop (1/2 day-2 days and beyond). Does your team, department or entire organization need help kick-starting or rebooting your continuous improvement work and getting to the next level of organizational effectiveness? I’ll help plan and facilitate an improvement workshop and set you up with tools and practices for following through on the actions coming out of the workshop. Example formats:
Solution-focused goal driven improvements
By exploring big audacious goals we focus on what we want, not on what we don’t want, which tends to encourage challenge rather than minor tweaking. Instead of the typical “whack-a-mole” approach to deal with known problem after they have occured this approach provides you with goals for continuous improvement. It’s also a lot more energizing!
Drivers analysis
A full day workshop based on Sociocracy 3.0 concepts where multiple teams or departments, potentially the whole organization, gets together to identify the various drivers that people are facing throughout the organization and to group and prioritize them according to who is impacted and which are most important -challenging or opportunistic – to address, resulting in an improvement backlog.
